I Have a Dream…

Many people are upset about a picture of “Aunt Jemima” on a label, but they haven’t given a damn for years that what’s inside the bottle is high fructose corn syrup. Mindless. All flash, no substance.

I went to the Aunt Jemima website to get a list of the ingredients in their syrup…

INGREDIENTS: CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WATER, CELLULOSE GUM, CARAMEL COLOR, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SODIUM BENZOATE AND SORBIC ACID (PRESERVATIVES), SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE.

Neat.

“Hey Babe, thanks for making pancakes. Would you pass the bottle of high fructose corn syrup and cellulose gum? Yummy!”

I went and grabbed a bottle of my own syrup. The ingredient(s) are: 100% pure organic maple syrup

Naturally, my syrup costs more. It is whole food, not GMO government-subsidized goo formulated in a lab and boasting a clever (or not) label.

It goes to show how superficial are the things that many people concern themselves with, fixated on appearance when it is what’s inside that really matters.

Just sayin’…
