Friendship

“But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one’s deepest as well as one’s most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.”

  1. Excellent quote by Dinah Mulock Craik! I agree wholeheartedly! I am a tester of ideas. I am a thinker. I love to challenge my thinking and the thinking of others. I believe ideas are our most valuable commodity. We live in a liberal hellscape. Women run the show. Now we have to worry about political correctness, cultural Marxism, and the inversion of the hierarchy, i.e. victimhood worship. Logic should reign supreme in politics, not pathos. So when I challenge people’s ideas, I almost always encounter the SJW. This person hates ideas and is what the Bible called a fool. It takes courage to challenge ideas and the status quo. This is what Gandhi, Galileo, Darwin, and Socrates did. What separates these men from society is they were *PHILOSOPHERS.*

    • SJW’s don’t understand their own Groupthink. This reminds me of a YouTube I watched about three months ago… let me dig in the journal and find my notes.

      Here we go…
This is excellent — anonymous leader of The Faction notes how at Trump rallies you would see hundreds or thousands of LEFT-wing protesters. While at Bernie or Hilary rallies you would see ZERO ‘Conservative’ protesters. So you have thousands, versus zero. That’s not a coincidence, so why is that? Fundamentally… Individualism, Conservatism… we don’t think as a group. We don’t want to go and yell at you.
It is because those of us on the Right want to say our thing and then be left alone — and leave OTHERS alone. While the LEFT (like a cult) everything they do is as a group (acting as a monolith) — the very definition of Groupthink. We’re not wired for that. We are the opposite of that. We actually think for ourselves because it is natural to do so.
Memes are so effective because as soon as you look at them they go straight to your visual cortex, that’s why the EU and facebook are trying to get rid of them.

one of the comments below summed it up…
“I am waiting for somebody to tell me what I should be outraged about today.”

Returning to the quote by Craik, I first came across it in a book called The Friendship Factor, by Alan Loy McGinnis. I have been lucky in my life to have at least a few friends with whom this applies. Maybe this is what is missing today with so many young people, and why there is such a pretense of acceptance among them. The kind of pretense which to me always felt creepy for its ultimate insincerity.
