2020-05-23 — An additional note: In concurrence with the political thought of those who founded this nation, Thoreau makes the point that it is our civic duty to not obey uncivil laws. Note also that Thoreau believed that such disobedience should take form in a civil way, not tarnished by violence (making one no better than the State which oppressed them).
